A recent article in the Readers Digest tells of an Illinois man who almost died of a dental infection. It began with a tooth ache on a Monday by the following Monday he was in the hospital. His check was so swollen he couldn’t open his left eye. The dental infection had invaded the muscles that open the jaw, causing his jaw to clamp shut. It had also spread to his neck and was squeezing his airway nesessitating a breathing tube. Last night Prime Time News aired a story about an 11 year old boy who died after a dental infection spread to his brain, sadly, resulting in his death. There are also documented cases of dental infections spreading to the heart resulting in a life threatening Cardiac infections.
